Masterpieces to admire:

TRIP SUGGESTED

The surroundings are true masterpieces. Paciano at 3 Km  is a fortified medieval village near the magnificent Renaissance Panicale at 7Km.

Chiusi is the town of king Porsenna, with the Etruscan tombs and the underground town.

Montepulciano, the setting for Twilight II, has the world’s most beautiful cellar for Newsweek.

Cortona (under the Tuscan sun) has a stunning museum with the world’s oldest lamp (4th century BC).

Castiglione del Lago on Lake Trasimeno has a fortress builded by Federico II to reach through the city walls; there is a nice weekly open air market, in Christmas a huge Christmas tree on the lake. A place to admire the sunset is the island Maggiore to reach by ferry.

Sarteano where recently has been found a new Etruscan tomb.

Cetona has prehistoric caves and in San Casciano such as in Bagni San Filippo you can bathe in summer and in winter in natural hot springs.

Chianciano has a wonderful SPA of 500 sqmt

Also the capital of the region is wonderful: Perugia and its secret Rocca Paolina.

There is still much to see: Arezzo and Siena with beautiful antique markets on the first Sunday of each month, and of course Assisi with two churches lined up one above the other dedicated to San Francis.

If you stay more than a week, don’t miss Le Marmore Falls, Europe’s tallest waterfall, and Frasassi Caves, the most beautiful cave I have ever seen in my life.

If you want to take a train from Chiusi, you can travel comfortably to Rome and Florence in about one hour.
